La Montaña Rusa #34.2019 (English version). Remembrance to Celia Mur. Tubby Hayes Quartet. Oregon. Wayne Horvitz. Tom Harrell.
This number 34.2019 of La Montaña Rusa is dedicated to the memory of the vocalist, composer and educator Celia Mur, who sadly passed away last week after a long disease. To remember her musical work, throughout the program, we will listen to what we consider is one of her best recordings, Amerikanda, published in 2012 together with the guitarist Hugo Fernández, the bassist Ander García and the drummer and percusionist Mariano Steimberg. This will be our modest hommage to her voice and memory, one of the usual suspects here in La Montaña Rusa from our beginnings. We have listened also another non previously released recording, in this case from the saxophonist Tubby Hayes, Grits, Beans and Greens: The Lost Fontana Studio Sessions, recorded in 1969; the last work until the date of the long last band Oregon, Lantern, published in 2017; the extraordinary Snowghost Studio Sessions by Wayne Horvitz and his Trio and we close with the new release of the trumpeter Tom Harrell, Infinity, published this 2019.
